We provide a specialized, two-phase process designed to coordinate tooth alignment with facial development. Our goal is to maximize the opportunity for a healthy, functional result that remains stable throughout your child's life. By utilizing this measured approach, we ensure that clinical excellence builds the foundation of your child's oral health.
What Are The Risks Of Delaying Treatment?
Postponing an evaluation may lead to more invasive procedures later in life. We use early intervention to address issues that might not be fully correctable once growth is complete. Taking a proactive step now helps us give your child a jump start on a lifetime of healthy smiles and may even prevent the need for surgical correction in the future.
What Happens During Phase One?
The primary objective of Phase One is to guide jaw development. This ensures there is sufficient space for all permanent teeth and improves the relationship between the upper and lower jaws.
- Early Detection. We identify jaw discrepancies, such as a narrow upper arch, in children as young as six years old.
- Space Management. If a child shows significant crowding at age eight, early treatment can often prevent the future extraction of permanent teeth.
- Diagnostic Records. We use the iTero™ scanner and digital X-rays to create a precise map of your child’s oral development and orthodontic needs.
Is A Resting Period Necessary?
During this phase, we monitor the eruption of the remaining permanent teeth. We typically allow these teeth freedom of movement to find their natural path. A successful Phase One creates the necessary room for this process; without it, teeth may become impacted or severely displaced.
We maintain periodic observation appointments, usually every six months. During these visits, we may recommend the selective removal of certain primary teeth to further enhance the eruption process.
Thrive Orthodontics Reviews
Daughter loves her Dr and the nurses here
Great experience with a professional orthodontist. We transferred mid-treatment plan from an orthodontist in Edwards Colorado to Thrive Orthodontics in Montvale NJ. due to my relocation in ministry. This was like going from a canoe to a cruise ship. Throve is professional, prompt and courteous, everything our orthodontist in Edwards Colorado was not. PS my son’s orthodontics came off today and he looks great! Mike+
My daughter hated going to the dentist, but we never had a problem with the orthodontist. Everything was explained, staff was friendly and the experience painless. Highly recommend.
Always a positive, friendly and efficient visit.
“Just got my Invisalign today from Thrive Orthodontics and had an amazing experience! Friendly staff, super informative, and very professional. Excited to see my results!”Michele C.

What Occurs During Phase Two?
The second phase begins once all permanent teeth have erupted. Our focus shifts to establishing a precise equilibrium where each tooth is in harmony with the lips, cheeks, and tongue.
Phase Two usually involves a full sequence of braces or Invisalign clear aligners to finalize your child’s tooth alignment. At the conclusion of treatment, we provide Vivera™ retainers and specific instructions to help ensure their results last a lifetime.
When Should You Schedule An Evaluation?
We recommend a first visit by age seven. This allows our specialists to determine if early treatment is the right path forward for your child’s smile development.
